HTC One M9 vs HTC One M8 Comparison

By Rich W Woods

Since receiving the HTC One M9 to review, this is the comparison that I’ve been most looking forward to doing. I’ve had the HTC One M8 for a year now and it’s still a great phone.

Now, the HTC One M9 has taken the HTC One M8 and overhauled any faults it had, including a higher resolution camera, more RAM, a powerful 64 bit Snapdragon 810 processor, they moved the ultrapixel to the front, and more.

The design of the HTC One has been revered almost universally since its inception with the HTC One M7; however, many are finding the HTC One M9 to be too minor of an upgrade for the sole reason that there wasn’t a physical redesign. It’s sad, but that’s how people look at things. Personally, I think the minor changes that they did make in design is perfect.

HTC One M8 vs Nexus 6 Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

For the last two weeks, I have left my iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2 in a drawer and have used a Nexus 6 and a Nexus 9. To be perfectly honest, I can’t wait to go back. The Nexus 6 is not for everyone and the battery on both devices is terrible. They combine for nearly 10,000 mAh between the two devices, yet with moderate use, neither will make it to the end of the day.

But I digress. This is a camera comparison, right? Well, my web site, my rules. I might compare the two devices in other ways if I feel like it.

HTC Desire Eye vs HTC One M8 Camera Comparison: Megapixels vs Ultrapixels

By Rich W Woods

When HTC announced the HTC Desire Eye at their Double Exposure event last months, it was exciting news but it also raised a lot of questions. The HTC Desire Eye uses a 13 MP rear camera as well as a 13 MP front camera, which also has a flash. HTC has always went with the ultrapixel approach, using less megapixels but using software to saturate the image giving brighter colors.

Now the HTC has a new flagship available that uses a 13 MP camera, will the photos still use the ultrapixel technology, saturating the images? After all, the HTC One M8 takes beautiful photos, but with a 4 MP rear camera, there is simply no room to crop the images. Here, we will put the photos of the HTC One M8 and the HTC Desire Eye side by side and see which one is better.

HTC One M8 vs Nokia Lumia 830 Camera Comparison: Ultrapixels vs Pureview

By Rich W Woods

The cameras on the HTC One M8 and the Nokia Lumia 830 couldn’t be more different. Nokia uses a Pureview camera with a Carl Zeiss lens while HTC uses their ultrapixel approach, using a mere 4 MP sensor and using software to saturate the images.

Both of these phones take beautiful photos but in completely different ways. It has been rumored that the HTC One M8 will be HTC’s last ultrapixel phone. After all, it is only 4 MP. There is no room to crop the images at all.

HTC One M8 vs HTC Re Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

Last month at HTC’s Double Exposure event, HTC announced a “remarkable camera that we call Re”. The HTC Re looks a lot like a periscope. It’s designed to be an action camera. Something like a Go Pro but for everyday use.

The HTC Re has a 16 MP sensor and it takes 1080p video and it is remarkable simple to use. In fact, it doesn’t even have a power switch. It simply has a sensor that can tell when the user is holding it. There is no viewfinder unless it is connected to an app, which is a bit confusing because if I’m connected to a smart phone app I’m using my smart phone camera.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs HTC One M8 Camera Comparison: Megapixels vs Ultrapixels

By Rich W Woods

This will be the final camera comparison with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 before I send back the unit I’m reviewing. So far, I have compared the camera of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to the camera of the iPhone 6 Plus, OnePlus One, LG G3, Nokia Lumia 1020, and Sony Xperia Z3. The scope of this comparison will be the cameras of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the HTC One M8.

Both the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the HTC One M8 have great cameras, but in completely different ways. The camera on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is a high resolution camera, coming in at 16 MP, while HTC takes the ultrapixel approach, working under the belief that a great picture can come from great software.

Sony Xperia Z3 vs HTC One M8 Camera Comparison: Megapixels and Ultrapixels

By Rich W Woods

Today, the Sony Xperia Z3v is being released for Verizon and on October 29, the Sony Xperia Z3 will be released for T-Mobile. Sony is widely renowned as one of the best handset manufacturers in the world. We don’t see a whole lot of them here in the United States because they rarely show up with any carriers. The Xperia Z and Z1 were available with T-Mobile and the Xperia Z2 tablet was available with Verizon, but that’s it. This time will be different.

It only makes sense to compare the Sony Xperia Z3 to competing handsets. So far, we’ve compared the Sony Xperia Z3 to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the OnePlus One, and we’ve compared the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact to the iPhone 6. The scope of this review will be to compare the Sony Xperia Z3 to the HTC One M8.

Nokia Lumia 530 vs HTC One M8 Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

On Sunday, Microsoft finally released the Nokia Lumia 530 to the American public after being available internationally for a few weeks. The Nokia Lumia 530 is the successor to the Nokia Lumia 520, the best selling Windows Phone in the history of the platform.

The Nokia Lumia 530 is a phone that is designed to scrape the bottom of the barrel, but that is ok. It only costs $69. It uses a 5 MP camera, so it is only fair to compare it to competing cameras across the board. I thought it would be fair to start with the HTC One M8, since the HTC One M8 uses a 4.3 MP rear camera.

I’ve already compared the Nokia Lumia 530 to the Nokia Lumia 635, which is the phone that really should be considered the successor to the Nokia Lumia 520.

OnePlus One vs HTC One M8: Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

Over the last two weeks, I have been spending a lot of time with the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and the Moto X to review them. In that effort, I compared the camera of the Moto X to the Nokia Lumia 1020, HTC One M8, OnePlus One, and iPhone 6. I compared the iPhone 6 to the Nokia Lumia 1020, HTC One M8, iPhone 5S, OnePlus One, and the Moto X.

Throughout these comparisons, I have received numerous requests for comparisons between the HTC One M8, Nokia Lumia 1020, and OnePlus One. The scope of this review will be to compare the OnePlus One and the HTC One M8.

Moto X vs HTC One M8: Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

The Moto X is poised to be the best Android phone released this year, so we thought it would be fair to compare it to other flagship phones across the board. We’ve already done the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Nokia Lumia 1020, and OnePlus One. Now it’s time for the HTC One M8.

Both the Moto X and the HTC One M8 use Snapdragon 801 processors, although the HTC One M8 is 2.3 GHz and the Moto X is 2.5 GHz. Certainly not a noticeable difference. they both use 2 GB RAM, but there is a solid difference between the two cameras.
