Microsoft Lumia 640 vs 2nd Gen Moto E Comparison

By Rich W Woods

Yesterday, I published a comparison between the Nokia Lumia 635 and the Microsoft Lumia 640, proving that the Microsoft Lumia 640 is a massive upgrade from the Nokia Lumia 635. It even changed my position on the 6xx series of Lumias from good low end phones to decent mid-range phones.

The same thing goes for the second generation Moto E. The second generation, is, like the Microsoft Lumia 640, a massive upgrade from its predecessor. The key difference here is that the Moto E made its main improvements in the processor and the Lumia 640 made its improvements everywhere else, although I should say that they both improved battery.

Yezz Billy 4.7 vs Moto E (2015) Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

The Moto E and the Yezz Billy 4.7 are two very different phones. The Moto E has a better processor and LTE while the Yezz Billy 4.7 has a better display and higher resolution cameras. The one thing they have in common is the price. They both sell for $149 unlocked.

I have been spending a lot of time with both of these phones over the last couple weeks and I’ve been finding both to be totally amazing. These OEMs continue to pack value into these low cost devices and it makes me wonder how they are going to justify the $600 price tag when it comes time to release their flagship.

OnePlus One vs Moto E (2nd Gen) Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

I know I’m going to take heat for writing this. People love to go nuts when I compare a low end or a mid-range device to the OnePlus One. I get it. The OnePlus One is the flagshipiest of flagship phones. The fact is that the camera is far from perfect and I’ve been extremely impressed with the Moto E camera since I got it a couple weeks ago.

I have been impressed with the Moto E as an overall phone. It uses the 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, which is a rare quality for a low end phone that sells for $149. Another rare quality that it has is LTE. I would be remiss to fail to mention the rare qualities that the OnePlus One has. It uses a 2.5 GHz quad core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3 GB of RAM, a 5.5″ 1080p LCD, a 13 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front camera, and 64 GB of onboard storage. Oh, none of that is rare? Well, for a $349 phone, it is, numbnuts.

Moto E (2nd Gen) vs Yezz Andy 5T Comparison

By Rich W Woods

I’ve been working with the Yezz Andy 5T and the new Moto E for over a week now. Yes, I’m reviewing both at the same time, and not just those two. I’m also reviewing the Yezz Billy 4.7 and the Microsoft Lumia 435 in parallel. I really have to say, these low end to mid-range phones are really blowing my mind.

Look at the Moto E. It sells for $149 for the LTE model and ships with a 64 bit Snapdragon 410 processor. Unlike many phones at its price point, it has a front facing camera. Then look at the Yezz Andy 5T. It uses a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. This is some really incredible stuff. It makes you wonder how some of these companies are going to justify the prices of their flagships.

Microsoft Lumia 535 vs Moto E Comparison

By Rich W Woods

Last week, I received the new Moto E from Motorola. If you watched the unboxing video, I had a hard time figuring out what the Windows Phone competitor to the device would be. After all, the Moto E is a low end phone but it uses a mid-range 64 bit processor. I decided I’m going to start with the Microsoft Lumia 535 and we’ll go from there.

The Microsoft Lumia 535 uses a quad core Snapdragon 200 processor, as does the Moto E in the 3G model; however, I’m using the LTE model of the Moto E, which uses a Snapdragon 410. While the Moto E has LTE and a better processor, the Lumia 535 has a flash on the 5 MP rear camera and while the Moto E has a 0.3 front camera, the Lumia 535 has a 5 MP front camera.

Nokia Lumia 1320 vs Moto G Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

Since the Nokia Lumia 1320 has recently gotten the Lumia Cyan update, Nokia was kind enough to send me a review unit. I’m doing with it what I do with all review units: camera reviews! Since the Nokia Lumia 1320 is a mid-range phone, it makes sense to compare it to mid-range phones. The scope of this review will be to compare the Nokia Lumia 1320 to the Moto G.

I’m a big fan of the Nokia Lumia 1320. It is one of very few budget phablets that exist. While some might say that Nokia makes too many different phones, they can be commended for making all sizes available to all price points.

OnePlus One vs Moto G Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

I have been spending a lot of time with the Moto G over the last couple weeks. I compared the camera to the Nokia Lumia 635iPhone 6, and the Moto X and also wrote a full review.

In writing all of these comparisons and reviews, one thing was for sure. If I don’t compare the camera of the Moto G to the OnePlus One, I would get crucified for snubbing the holy grail. After all, there is no one more passionate about their phones as OnePlus One owners.

Moto X vs Nokia Lumia 635: Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

This is a crazy month if you follow the smart phone industry. Since September 3, we have heard announcements for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Moto X, Moto G, HTC Desire 820, Desire Eye, Nokia Lumia 730, Lumia 735, Lumia 830, and Sony Xperia Z3v. I’m sure I missed one or two.

I’ve been spending a lot of time with these phones and when the Nokia Lumia 530 was released last Sunday in the United States, I got one to review it and the camera was a huge disappointment. It doesn’t focus. I got the Nokia Lumia 635 to compare it to and I am super psyched about it.

Moto G vs Nokia Lumia 635 Camera Comparison: Battle of the Budget Phones

By Rich W Woods

We spend a lot of time talking about our iPhones, Moto Xs, OnePlus Ones, HTC One M8s, Nokia Lumia 930s, and our LG G3s with their 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 processors and 2 or 3 GB RAM. These phones have up to 20 MP rear cameras and up to 5 MP front cameras. Some of them take 4K video. Some of them support RAW photos. The LG G3 has a laser focused camera. The Moto X is always listening.

If you grew up in the 90s like I did, you will have a hard time reciting the specs of the OnePlus One without following it up with “arg arg arg more power” like Tim Allen used to do in Home Improvement.

We spend so much time with these super-powered phones that when a mid-range phone like the Moto G or the Nokia Lumia 635 comes our way, we just sort of say that they are great phones, but we pass them up because they certainly wouldn’t be able to meet our needs.

Moto G vs iPhone 6 Camera Comparison: Same Specs, Different Price

By Rich W Woods

In the case of hardware, the Moto G and the iPhone 6 are actually very similar phones. The Moto G uses a 1.2 GHz quad core processor while the iPhone 6 uses a 1.4 GHz dual core processor. They both use 8 MP cameras. The iPhone 6 comes in 4.7″ and 5.5″ while the Moto G comes in right in between the two iPhones at 5″.

There are some major differences between the Moto G and the iPhone 6. For one, the Moto G costs $179 and the iPhone 6 costs $649. Here, we will take a look at which has the better camera.

I have already compared the Moto X to the Moto G and I have already compared the iPhone 6 to the Moto X, so there is not much to talk about the Moto X here.
