It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for! There is finally a new Windows 10 Mobile build!
We saw major improvements in Windows 10 Mobile Build 10149 and 10166; however, this is Windows 10 Mobile Build 10512. This puts Windows 10 Mobile on par with Windows 10 for desktops, which is currently at build 10240.
When I say it puts it on par, I mean that some things are fundamentally missing in previous Windows 10 Mobile builds. For example, I submitted the For the Love of Tech universal app to the Windows 10 Store, which should run on Windows 10, Windows 10 Mobile, and Windows 10 on Xbox One; however, it requires Windows 10 Mobile build 10240 or better, so until now, you would get the Windows Phone 8.1 version of the app.
So what’s new in Windows 10 Mobile build 10512? Have a look.

Last year, the HTC One M8 for Windows was possibly the most revolutionary device that was released. For the first time, consumers could walk into a cell phone store, pick a certain phone, and have a choice in the OS that is preinstalled on it when they buy it.
When HTC announced the HTC One M9 at Mobile World Congress in March, Windows Phone fans universally asked the same question: “What about a Windows Phone model?”
It’s a bit of a tricky issue. You see, Windows Phone in its current form doesn’t support the Snapdragon 810 processor. You might not realize that Windows Phone 8 only supported the dual core Snapdragon S4 Plus processor. Windows Phone 8.1 added the Snapdragon 200, 400, and 800. Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 added support for Snapdragon 801 (for the HTC One M8) and Update 2 added support for the Snapdragon 410.
Last Friday, Microsoft left us with another Windows 10 Mobile build. This time, it’s build 10166. The week before, we received Windows 10 Mobile Build 10149, which most were shocked to find how fantastic this build was. There were still some issues, so I had high hopes for Windows 10 Mobile build 10166.
When I went to install the new build on the five phones that I run the Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview on, I had two successful installs, two bricked phones, and one that just didn’t take. I ended up using the Windows Phone Recovery Tool and installed from there. My high hopes were now gone.
I’ve been using the build since as a daily driver to test it. It’s been working pretty well since then. Check out the video.

Today, Microsoft released Windows 10 Mobile build 10166. This is a very important build, if you ask me. It’s mostly all about bug fixes. They don’t have a laundry list of new features like they have in every build thus far.
The last Windows 10 Mobile build was pretty great. Surprisingly great, in fact. I was all set to use it on my daily driver, but I figured that before I installed it on my gold Lumia 930, I’d try it out on my Lumia Icon first, since they’re the same phone. I made it all of two hours.
All bug fixes and no features means we’re getting close to RTM. Get ready. It’s going to be an interesting second half of the year.

Yesterday, Microsoft released the fifth iteration of the Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview, build 10149. It’s probably the first decent build I’ve seen so far. The first Windows 10 Mobile build only worked on six Lumias. The second worked on all but the flagships. The third bricked a few phones. The fourth was very buggy.
I find this build to be extremely stable. Have a look at Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 10149.

Today, Microsoft released Windows 10 Mobile Build 10149 to the fast ring of the Windows 10 Insider program. There were loads of new features, including Microsoft Edge branding. In fact, I was very impressed to see them put Edge on mobile before they did on the desktop.
Here is what got fixed and what is still a known issue:

Microsoft released Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build 10136 today. I live streamed the installation, which took too long, but is going well. There are a few new features, but mostly, they’re just refining it. Here’s what got fixed and what are still known issues.
