Last year, the HTC One M8 for Windows was possibly the most revolutionary device that was released. For the first time, consumers could walk into a cell phone store, pick a certain phone, and have a choice in the OS that is preinstalled on it when they buy it.
When HTC announced the HTC One M9 at Mobile World Congress in March, Windows Phone fans universally asked the same question: “What about a Windows Phone model?”
It’s a bit of a tricky issue. You see, Windows Phone in its current form doesn’t support the Snapdragon 810 processor. You might not realize that Windows Phone 8 only supported the dual core Snapdragon S4 Plus processor. Windows Phone 8.1 added the Snapdragon 200, 400, and 800. Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 added support for Snapdragon 801 (for the HTC One M8) and Update 2 added support for the Snapdragon 410.
