Specs from Microsoft Lumia 550, 750, and 850 Leak

WMPowerUser has leaked the specs of upcoming Lumias. Personally, I think it’s bullshit, but we’re going to talk about it anyway because that’s what we do.

Obviously, these are all marginal improvements from the current devices. Well, not the Lumia 550. That’s coming from a 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 200 to a 1 GHz Snapdragon 210; however, the Snapdragon 210 does have a better GPU.

I find it hard to believe that the Lumia 850 will have a WXGA display since we haven’t seen any WXGA phones since Windows Phone 8. They’ve used 720p since then.

5″ displays sound about right since Microsoft is using a lot of those; however, this would mean that the qHD display of the Lumia 550 would have a lower resolution than the 720p Lumia 540 Dual SIM. Then again, it wouldn’t be the first time Microsoft downgraded on a newer low end model (i.e. Lumia 520 to Lumia 530).

What really doesn’t sit right with me about this is the Lumia 850. I have a hard time believing that the model that sits right under their flagships is going to continue to straddle the border between low end and mid-range like the Lumia 830 currently does.

Windows 10 Mobile will add support for Snapdragon 615, so it stands to reason that Microsoft would use that in the Lumia 850. After all, Windows Phone in its current form only supports Snapdragon S4 Plus, Snapdragon 200, 400, 410, 800, and 801. That’s why there’s nothing in the high end of the mid-range because they don’t support a Snapdragon 6xx processor.

The other thing that doesn’t sit right is that Microsoft just fired 7,800 people from their phone division because they’re going to cut down on the amount of phones they make. We know there’s going to be a Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL, then these four?

There’s just so much here that just doesn’t sit right. I have a lot of respect for WMPowerUser, but this time, I have to call bullshit.
