Just in case you’re in the U.S. and you were thinking that the big hardware launch would be in New York City, you were dead wrong. Expect to see all of that fancy new Windows 10 hardware on September 4 in Berlin.
Every year after Computex is IFA. If you’ll recall, IFA is where Microsoft launched the Nokia Lumia 730, 735, and 830 as well as where they announced Lumia Denim, so they’re no stranger to big news at IFA. Expect to see big news from other OEMs as well, as it’s usually time for Samsung to launch the next product in their Note line, Motorola to launch a new Moto X, Moto G, and Moto 360 (assuming they follow the same schedule as last year), and maybe even Sony will launch their second half flagship.
The rumor mill is quiet, but we’re expecting Surface Pro 4, Microsoft Lumia 940, Microsoft Lumia 940 XL, and possibly Microsoft Band 2.
For Microsoft Lumia 940, we’re expecting Snapdragon 808, 20 MP rear camera, 5 MP front camera, and a 5.2″ AMOLED.
For Microsoft Lumia 940 XL, we’re expecting Snapdragon 810, 20 MP rear camera, 5 MP front camera, and a 5.7″ AMOLED.
Surface Pro 4 should generally be a Surface Pro 3 with Broadwell processors inside. Maybe you’ll see a special Intel RealSense camera on the front for facial recognition with Windows Hello.
But there’s One More Thing, as Apple would say. Ask anyone with any connects at Microsoft and they haven’t heard a thing about Surface Pro 4 because the Surface team is pretty quiet.
Remember Surface Mini? We haven’t heard anything about it, except for that it was scrapped on May 20, 2014 in favor of waiting for Windows 10…
